Yesterday, the team behind "Priyo Maloti" hosted a special screening of their film, which was officially released on December 20. Celebrities, supporters, and journalists gathered to watch the actress' debut film on the big screen.

Notable figures such as Nusrat Imrose Tisha, Afsana Mimi, Runa Khan, Tama Mirza, Raihan Rafi, Shawki Syed, Xefer, amongst others, were in attendance.

A notable highlight of the event was the presence of Jaya Ahsan, which added a special touch to the screening. She entered the cinema hall just minutes after the film began and became emotional upon watching it. During the press meeting, the actress was seen visibly moved by the movie.

"I am a fan of Mehazabien's performance. I don't really get much time to watch other projects, but I always make time to watch her work. I have seen her growth as an actress over the years," said the elated actress.

"Many people have said that she should have started working in films much earlier. But I believe she chose the perfect time to step into films, and the result is extraordinary. As humans, I feel we all need to go through a journey. I believe Mehazabien has completed that journey, and that's why she was able to deliver such a powerful and fitting performance in the film," said Jaya.

"I got goosebumps after watching Mehazabien's performance, particularly the way she cried and the moment her sindoor was wiped away following her husband's death," added the actress.

The "Debi" actress stated that it was impossible to tell Mehazabien comes from a different religion and didn't grow up observing the customs and rituals of the Sanatani community while watching that scene. Jaya highlighted this as a true reflection of Mehazabien's exceptional acting skills.

After the film screening, Mehazabien thanked everyone who attended. She shared, "I'm receiving the response I had hoped for. We expected the audience to enjoy the film, and now their reactions are consistently motivating us. It feels like our hard work has been worthwhile."

The film, which is being screened in over 20 cinemas across the country, highlights the struggles of Maloti—a character representing social, economic, and emotional hardships faced by many women in our society. Drawing inspiration from true events, the story also challenges societal norms, making it both thought-provoking and deeply relatable.

Directed by Shankha Dasgupta and produced by Frame Per Second and the OTT platform Chorki, "Priyo Maloti" has already made its mark internationally, having been screened at the Cairo International Film Festival (CIFF) and the International Film Festival of India (IFFI), where it received widespread acclaim.

In addition to Mehazabien, the cast includes actors Azad Abul Kalam, Shahjahan Samrat, Rizvi Rizu Chowdhury, Momena Chowdhury, Somu Chowdhury and Saim Bin Mujib.
