‘Besura’ from ‘Dui Shaw’ debuts Sumaiya Shimu on OTT
Today (January 6), Chorki's verified Facebook page released the trailer for "Besura", the final episode of "Dui Shaw", revealing its cast. The episode features popular actress Sumaiya Shimu and singer Ismail Uddin Palakar. Sumaiya Shimu has confirmed that "Besura" marks her debut on the OTT platform, while Ismail Uddin Palakar ventures into acting for the first time.
The trailer opens with a lush green landscape and an off-tune rendition of "Sa Re Ga Ma Pa". It introduces a little girl who lacks a melodious voice. Upon discovering this, the area's renowned music maestro plans to punish her. Soon after, the mention of a witch emerges. Towards the end of the trailer, the witch is seen tied up. What is the connection between Besura and the witch? The answer will be revealed on January 8 at midnight when "Besura" premieres on Chorki. With this episode, the "Dui Shaw" series will come to an end.
Sharing her experience of working on the series, Sumaiya Shimu shared, "OTT platforms are producing quality content now. I often see large-scale, well-crafted productions. The kind of projects I want to be part of and 'Dui Shaw' is one of them. Its story is unique, Nuhash Humayun is a promising director, and Chorki is a great platform. Altogether, I felt this would be a good project to work on."
The actress further shared that her character's costume and overall appearance held significant meaning. Each time she prepared for a shoot, she felt as though the process became considerably easier.
Sumaiya Shimu also appreciated the professionalism of OTT productions, saying, "The way work is structured here is highly professional. Each department operates separately, allowing me to focus entirely on my role. The entire arrangement was well-organised, and I thoroughly enjoyed the experience."
The music direction for "Dui Shaw" was handled by Abhishek Bhattacharya, while Pritom Hasan composed the music for two songs in the "Besura" episode. Interestingly, it was Pritom's involvement that convinced Ismail Uddin Palakar to take up acting.
Speaking about his first acting experience, Ismail Uddin Palakar shared, "I received a call saying I had to act. That made me a bit anxious. I have stood in front of the camera many times, but I had never acted before. Later, when they mentioned that Pritom Hasan was part of the project, I felt reassured and gave them my word. After a few discussions, I agreed to do it."
The singer-turned actor further shared, "I actually enjoyed acting for the first time. I never imagined that I would act. But I didn't feel any tension while doing it. I already work with many people in my profession, and acting is similar—you have to collaborate with a lot of people. Besides, both the songs and dialogues felt natural to me, so I had no difficulty adjusting."
The second season of "Pett Kata Shaw" is titled "Dui Shaw". Written by Nuhash Humayun and his mother, Gulatikin Khan, the series has been directed by Nuhash himself.
Discussing the storyline, the director revealed that 'Besura' revolves around an artiste born without a sense of melody or rhythm.
"This episode can be considered a musical content piece. Since the story involves harmony and disharmony, I incorporated rhythm into the dialogues as well. The characters speak in a rhythmic manner," said the director.
Nuhash further elaborated, "This season, we aimed to present horror in a unique way, which led to the concept of 'Besura'. We experimented with several elements, though I can't reveal everything just yet. Viewers will understand once they watch the episode. They will experience something new in terms of costumes, styling, casting, art, and music."
Besura features performances by Mann, Erfan Mridha Shiblu, Bablu Bose, Masudur Rahman, Sayem Uddin, Animesh Das, Snigdha Devi, Arnika Devi Orthi, Mohammad Faian Wahid, Rajdeep Das, and Bina Das Gupta, among others.
