Nasim Manzur re-elected LFMEAB president
Syed Nasim Manzur, managing director of Apex Footwear Ltd, has been re-elected president of the Leathergoods and Footwear Manufacturers & Exporters Association of Bangladesh (LFMEAB) for FY 2025-27.
The election took place during the association's 21st annual general meeting (AGM), held at Hotel Renaissance in Dhaka on Tuesday.
Mohammed Nazmul Hassan, managing director of Leatherex Footwear Industries, and Md Nasir Khan, managing director of Five-R-Footwear, have also been re-elected as senior vice president and vice president, respectively, according to a statement released yesterday.
Jakaria Shahid, founder and managing director of Edison Footwear Ltd, has been elected as the new vice president.
The other elected directors are: M Anisur Razzaque, managing director of Bangladesh Exports; Ziaur Rahman, managing director of Bay Footwear; Abdul Momen Bhuiyan, director of Blue Ocean Footwear; Amrita Makin Islam, deputy managing director of Picard Bangladesh; Hasnat Md Abu Obida, managing director of Maf Shoes; Md Mizanur Rahman, chairman of Fortune Shoes; and Ibnul Wara, managing director of Austan Ltd.
Nasim Manzur presented the AGM report for FY 2023-24, outlining the national outlook for the leather and footwear industry, major initiatives undertaken, and a summary of the financial position.
He noted that export earnings from the leather sector, the country's second-largest foreign currency earner after the ready-made garments (RMG) industry, reached $1.45 billion in FY 2023-24.
The chairman of the election board, Chaklader M Alam, announced the election results. The LFMEAB board of directors comprises 11 members.
