Elon wants to buy Liverpool FC claims Musk Sr; FSG denies
Elon Musk is reportedly interested in acquiring Liverpool Football Club, according to comments made by his father, Errol Musk, during a recent interview to Times Radio, a British digital radio station.
When asked about the possibility of Elon Musk purchasing Liverpool, Errol Musk responded ambiguously, stating, "I can't comment on that. They'll raise the price." At one time, Musk Sr. added, "Oh yes, but that doesn't mean he's buying it. Elon would like to, yes, obviously, anybody would want to. So would I." His remarks have fuelled speculation but fall short of confirming any concrete plans or negotiations.
However, Fenway Sports Group (FSG), the club's current owners, have denied any plans to sell the Premier League side. FSG, who purchased Liverpool in 2010 for £300 million, have overseen a transformative period for the club, including the 2020 Premier League title that ended a 30-year championship drought.
Liverpool is currently valued at approximately £4.3 billion, which is just over 1% of Elon Musk's total net worth which is speculated around £343 billion, according to a recent report by The Guardian.
While Musk's reported interest has captured attention, there is no indication at this time that he intends to make a formal bid for the club.
