Former Dhaka-10 MP Mohiuddin held

Police arrested former Awami League lawmaker from Dhaka-10 and ex-FBCCI President Shafiul Islam Mohiuddin in the capital's Uttara area yesterday afternoon.

Mohiuddin was arrested from his residence in Uttara's Sector 4 in connection with a case filed with Uttara West Police Station, said Md Mohibullah, officer-in-charge of Uttara East Police Station.

The arrest was made on charges related to suppressing the anti-discrimination student movement, he said. No further details were provided.

Shafiul Islam Mohiuddin was elected as the AL candidate in the 2020 by-election for the Dhaka-10 constituency.

He is also a business leader and a former president of both the FBCCI and BGMEA.
