Durbar Rajshahi all-rounder Ryan Burl displayed a brilliant all-round performance to help his side hand Khulna Tigers their first defeat in the ongoing Bangladesh Premier League T20 with a 28-run victory in Friday's first game at the Sylhet International Cricket Stadium.

Burl played a cameo of unbeaten 48 off 29 balls to power Rajshahi to 178-5 in their 20 overs before taking two wickets for 13 runs as Khulna were dismissed for 150 runs in 19.3 overs.

It was Rajshahi's second win in five matches while Khulna first defeat in three games.

Rajshahi got a decent start after being asked to bat first with Mohammad Haris (27) and Jishan Alam (23) putting on a 44-run opening partnership. However, Khulna spinners brought their side back in the contest by taking four quick wickets to reduce Rajshahi to 67-4 in the 10th over.

Yasir Al (41 off 25) and Burl then shared a brilliant 88-run partnership for the fifth wicket to take Rajshahi's score beyond the 150-run mark before Akbar Ali quick's unbeaten 21 off nine balls pushed their total close to the 180-run mark.

Khulna spinner Nasum Ahmed took wickets while Mohammad Nawaz, Mehedi Hasan Miraz and Abu Hider took one wicket each.

Khulna couldn't get an ideal start in the chase as they lost William Bosisto (six) and Mehedi (one) early. Mohammad Naim (24 off 28) and Afif Hossain (33 off 30) got starts but they were unable to come hard on the Rajshahi bowlers, allowing their opponents to maintain pressure on Khulna.

Sohaz Gazi (2-27) removed both the batters as Khulna were bowled out with three balls to spare. Pacer Taskin Ahmed also took two wickets to take his tally to 14 in five games in this year's tournament.
