Tanzim fined, handed three demerit points
Sylhet Strikers pacer Tanzim Sakib has been handed a 50 percent fine on his match fee and also received three demerit points for his heated exchange with Khulna Tigers all-rounder Mohammad Nawaz during their match in the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) in Sylhet on Sunday.
The incident occurred during the 19th over of the match when Tanzim dismissed Nawaz and then bumped into him with his shoulder after which both of them exchanged some heated words and had to be pulled apart by the other players.
Match referee Ehsanul Hoque confirmed The Daily Star on Monday that it was a level 2 breach of the code of conduct and Tanzim has been penalized for the offence.
"Sakib was fined 50 percent of his match fee and handed three demerit points for the offence," said Ehsanul, adding that Nawaz received no penalty.
Sylhet won the match by eight runs to complete their second win in five matches while Khulna now have lost two of their four matches in the tournament so far.
