From February 10, all travellers to Saudi Arabia from Bangladesh, including Umrah pilgrims, will have to get the meningitis vaccine.

According to a notification issued by the Saudi Arabia's Ministry of Health of Saudi Arabia and General Authority of Civil Aviation (GACA), and Bangladesh's Civil Aviation Authority (CAAB), the vaccine certificate has been made mandatory for all travelling from Bangladesh to Saudi Arabia.

The Office of the Executive Director, Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport issued a notice today regarding the requirement of vaccination to travel to Saudi Arabia for Umrah/visit visas.

Reduce the costs of hajj packages

According to the notification, the meningitis shot must be taken at least 10 days before travel, however, passengers below one year of age are not required to take the vaccine.

If the shot has been administered within the last three years, there is no need for a second dose.

This directive will come into effect from February 10.

Passengers have been instructed to carry vaccination certificate during their travel.
