Samsung unveils Galaxy S25 series with advanced AI integration

At the Galaxy Unpacked 2025 event, Samsung introduced its latest flagship smartphones, the Galaxy S25 series, which includes the S25 Ultra, S25+, and S25 models. The company also teased a Galaxy S25 Edge, though no additional details were provided. The lineup showcases hardware upgrades alongside cutting-edge AI features, powered by Google's Gemini platform.

The Galaxy S25 Ultra, Samsung's flagship model, is equipped with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite for Galaxy processor, promising enhanced performance with a 40% improvement in neural processing, a 37% boost in CPU, and a 30% increase in GPU efficiency over the previous generation. It features a 6.9-inch QHD+ AMOLED 2X display with a 120Hz super smooth refresh rate. Camera capabilities are enhanced with a 50MP Ultra-Wide camera including a 200MP Wide lens. The phone also has a 12MP front camera, a 50MP, and a 10MP Telephoto camera. With a 5,000mAh battery and optimised thermal management through a 40% larger vapor chamber than previous generation.

Samsung Galaxy S25+

The Galaxy S25 Plus features a 6.7-inch QHD+ dynamic AMOLED 2X display and mirrors the S25 Ultra's refresh rate. It includes a front camera and a triple-lens rear camera setup, including a 12MP Ultra-Wide camera, a 50MP Wide camera, and a 10MP Telephoto camera. The device comes with 12GB of RAM and options of 256GB or 512GB storage with a 4,900 mAh battery.

The Galaxy S25, the series' base model, features a 6.2-inch FHD+ AMOLED 2X display, the same camera configuration as the S25+, and a 4,000mAh battery.

Samsung has also introduced OneUI 7, focusing on deep AI integration. Key features include Gemini's advanced visual intelligence, offering tools like on-screen awareness and image analysis. The Gemini assistant now integrates seamlessly with Samsung's native apps, such as Notes and Calendar, and supports features like live conversations about uploaded files and photos.

Enhanced AI tools include the gesture-driven Circle to Search, which recognises text and music tracks on the screen, and Call Transcripts, which can automatically transcribe calls in up to 20 languages. The Now Brief function uses a "Personal Data Engine" to deliver tailored daily updates, while the AI-powered Search feature leverages a large language model for complex voice and text inputs.

Samsung also unveiled advanced text editing tools, supporting grammar checks, style suggestions, and formatting options. The new multimodal Sketch-to-Image capability allows users to create images by combining sketches, text, and voice commands.

The Galaxy S25 Ultra is priced at $1,300, with pre-orders including a free storage upgrade and 6 months of free Gemini advanced. The S25 and S25+ start at $799 and $999, respectively.
