The Dexter universe continues to expand as Uma Thurman joins Michael C Hall in the latest chapter of the franchise, "Dexter: Resurrection".

Thurman will portray Charley, a series regular and the head of security for mysterious billionaire Leon Prater. Charley's character is described as a former Special Operations officer who has seamlessly transitioned into elite private security, now serving as Prater's skilled and meticulous right-hand.

In "Dexter: Resurrection", Michael C Hall returns as the iconic Dexter Morgan, the complex serial killer and narrator, a signature feature of the series. Paramount+ with Showtime has confirmed the return of three familiar faces, including David Zayas as Detective Angel Batista, Dexter's former friend and colleague; James Remar as Harry Morgan, Dexter's late father who appears in flashbacks; and Jack Alcott as Harrison Morgan, Dexter's estranged son, last seen in "Dexter: New Blood".

The series is currently being filmed in New York and is expected to premiere this summer.

Showrunner Clyde Phillips has emphasised the interconnected storytelling within the "Dexter" franchise, describing "Dexter: Resurrection" as a continuation of the story from 2021's "Dexter: New Blood", which marked the show's revival eight years after the original series ended in 2013.

Adding depth to the franchise is "Dexter: Original Sin", a prequel series currently airing that focuses on the early life of a young Dexter Morgan, played by Patrick Gibson. The prequel delves into Dexter's formative years and his journey toward becoming the notorious serial killer later portrayed by Michael C Hall.

"Original Sin" serves as a narrative link, connecting "New Blood" and "Resurrection" while reintroducing Dexter after his apparent death in the finale.

The returning cast maintains continuity within the "Dexter" universe, with David Zayas reprising his role from the original series and "Dexter: New Blood".

James Remar, a cornerstone of the flagship series, also returns. In the prequel "Dexter: Original Sin", younger versions of these characters are brought to life by James Martinez and Christian Slater.
