Lady Gaga has finally responded to the harsh criticism surrounding her latest film, "Joker: Folie à Deux". The movie struggled to impress both Joker fans and critics, leading to its disappointing box office performance.

Viewers criticised it as a weak follow-up to the 2019 film "Joker", which was a standalone story centred around Joaquin Phoenix's portrayal of the iconic character.

In an interview with Elle magazine, Lady Gaga, who played Harley Quinn—Joker's girlfriend and partner—stated that she remains unfazed by the film's lukewarm reception. Directed by Todd Phillips, the Warner Bros movie premiered in October 2024.

In this sequel to the Oscar-winning 2019 blockbuster "Joker", Lady Gaga took on the role of Harley Quinn alongside Joaquin Phoenix, who reprised his role as Arthur Fleck, the infamous DC Comics villain.

Addressing the film's negative reception, Lady Gaga stated, "Sometimes people just don't like certain things—it's that simple. As an artiste, you have to accept that not everything will resonate with everyone. You keep going, even if it doesn't connect as you intended."

The singer and actor is gearing up for the release of her new album, "Mayhem". Reflecting on the project, she admitted, "There's definitely some embarrassment in putting this out, but creating this album helped me embrace and love myself through it all. Facing the music became a way to acknowledge my past rather than deny it. Instead of hiding, I chose to celebrate who I am."

Lady Gaga's upcoming album will include 14 tracks, featuring the previously released songs "Disease" and "Die With a Smile".

"Joker: Folie à Deux", directed by Todd Phillips, is a psychological thriller and sequel to "Joker". Joaquin Phoenix returns as the titular character, while Lady Gaga portrays his love interest, Lee Quinzel. The film also stars Zazie Beetz, Leigh Gill, Brendan Gleeson, Catherine Keener, Steve Coogan, and Harry Lawtey, among others.
