Sylhet Striker pacer Tanzim Sakib has been handed a demerit point and fined 10 percent of his match fee for on-field infraction.

Sakib, who got three wickets against Chittagong on January 30, was given a demerit point after exchanging words with a Chittagong batter. The paceman was fined fifty percent of his match fees and handed three demerit points for an earlier infraction involving Khulna Tigers' Mohammad Nawaz. With four accumulated demerit points, Tanzim has been handed a two-match suspension in the BPL.

"He was sanctioned twice and he got a two-match suspension," BPL's technical committee chairman Roquibul Hasan told The Daily Star.

However, Sakib's will not have to serve the suspension since Sylhet have already played all their 12 matches and are out of the running for a playoff spot.

"Sakib got a two-match suspension but since Sylhet are not in the tournament anymore, the suspension will not be carried forward. In BPL, sentences are for that season only," BCB's umpiring committee officials informed.
