"I was suffering from constipation since long, now the situation has turned too critical to survive but I don't have enough ability to get necessary treatment in the village... I am not even comfortable talking about the disease."

A 60-year-old patient, of Sayedpur village in Sirajganj Sadar upazila, suffering from critical colon disease said this.

For the first time, she received medical treatment from consultant of colorectal surgeon of Dhaka in a health camp at Masimpur village Sirajganj Sadar upazila this morning.

A social organisation, Amena Sheikh Somaj Kolyan Shangshtha, Sirajganj organised necessary treatment from specialised doctors for female patients who are suffering from colon and breast-related diseases, including colon cancer and breast cancer in the district.

Around 500 female patients of Sirajganj Sadar upazila and Ullapara upazila, most of them suffering from colon and breast-related diseases, had the opportunity to take necessary medical treatment from specialised doctors in the special health camp.

"I am suffering from critical disease but I am not comfortable talking about the disease with my family members and male doctors. Now I am freely talking with female doctors about the disease and have a proper guideline and treatment." Nurjahan Begum, a patient said.

A total of nine specialised doctors of breast diseases and colon diseases provided treatment at the day-long special health camp for female patients. In the health camp, a total of 20 critical patients suffering from breast cancer and colon cancer were identified.

"We will take necessary steps so that the critical patients can get proper treatment." Selina Siddiaqua Anna, secretary of Amena Sheikh Somaj Kolyan Shangshtha, Sirajganj told the Daily Star.

"We have already arranged treatment facility for two patients who are severely critical in Kurmitola Hospital and PG Hospital, Dhaka," she said.
