Ferry services resume on Paturia-Daulatdia, Aricha-Kazirhat routes

After being suspended for hours due to dense fog, ferry services on the Paturia-Daulatdia and Aricha-Kazirhat waterways resumed this morning.

Ferry operations on the Paturia-Daulatdia route were halted at 10:30pm last night, while services on the Aricha-Kazirhat route were suspended at 11:30pm.

As the fog cleared, ferry services resumed at 9:20am on the Paturia-Daulatdia route and around 8:00am on the Aricha-Kazirhat route, said Nasir Mahmud Chowdhury, deputy general manager of the Aricha Regional Office of the Bangladesh Inland Water Transport Corporation (BIWTC).

He said that ferry services on the Paturia-Daulatdia route were suspended to prevent accidents. As a result, several ferries, including Hasnahena, Golam Maula, Baigar, Shah Paran, and Enayetpuri, were stranded at the Paturia end in Manikganj. Meanwhile, ferries Keramat Ali, Comilla, Matiur Rahman, Bhashahid Barkat, Barkat, Gauri, and Kapoti were stuck at the Daulatdia end in Rajbari.

BIWTC Aricha Regional Office Manager (Commerce) Abu Abdullah said that ferry services on the Aricha-Kazirhat route were suspended due to thick fog. Ferries Shah Ali, Dhansiri, and Chitra were docked at Kazirhat Ghat in Pabna, while Khanjahan Ali, Hamidur, and Kishani remained stranded at Aricha Ghat in Manikganj during the suspension.
