Bapparaj to make OTT debut
The once-popular actor Bapparaj has been away from the screens for eight years. Despite receiving offers, he did not take up any roles as they did not appeal to him. Now, he is ready to return to the screen, particularly marking his OTT debut with the web-series "Roktowrin".
Today, the actor shared a glimpse of the series on his social media account, much to the delight of his fans.
In the 'character teaser' posted by Bapparaj, the clip begins with a door slowly opening. From inside, the song "Premer Samadhi" can be heard playing. A cup of tea sits nearby, steam rising from it, alongside a pistol. The figure of a character is then introduced—he is Sayem Jobbar.
The next shot shows Sayem holding a laser light and pointing it at a board covered with newspaper clippings. Soon after, a police officer's voice is heard saying, "Hey Hafiz, turn it off. Enough with the sorrow—it's time for some action!"
Bapparaj then steps into the frame as Sayem Jobbar, adding the necessary touch of excitement that induces goosebumps.
From the dialogue in the teaser, it is evident that "Roktowrin" is a crime thriller, where doctors are being mysteriously murdered one after another. Bapparaj, portraying a police officer, is on a mission to unravel the truth behind these killings.
His character makes the plot clear through the compelling dialogue: "Listen, Hafiz, every crime has a loophole. Our job is to find that flaw in the crime. Not everyone can do it. Not everyone is meant for this job, Hafiz."
Bapparaj informed local media that the project is still in progress, and he has already participated in several shoots. "The work isn't finished yet. We are still filming. Once everything is in place, I will share more details about it," he said.
"Roktowrin" is directed by young filmmaker Mostofa Khan Shihan. Speaking to the media, he remarked, "Over the years, many memes and even trolls have been created with the use of Bapparaj's dialogues and films. He has often been labelled as the 'tragic lover' of cinema, famous for heartbreak-themed films. With this series, we are moving away from that image and introducing him through a gripping thriller mystery. We are presenting a completely new character for Bapparaj in response to the audience."
