The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has formed an independent inquiry committee which will support the board and its Anti-Corruption Unit (ACU) with integrity issues and investigations on the spot-fixing allegations that has marred the ongoing edition of the Bangladesh Premier League,
The three-member committee will be headed by former justice of the appellate division Justice Mirza Hussain Haider. The other members are former cricketer Shakil Kasem and international lawyer Dr. Khaled H. Chowdhury.
The decision to form the independent committee came after the BCB faced significant backlash following several media reports from The Daily Star and others, which stated that the ACU had identified eight matches as suspicious for spot-fixing and match-fixing, based on anonymous tips and media reports.
Additionally, the ACU is monitoring 10 players and four franchises for suspicious activities in the BPL's 11th edition.
