Actress Jenna Ortega is preparing to step behind the camera for the first time, revealing she's been quietly developing a personal script for nearly a decade. In a recent interview with V Magazine, the "Wednesday" star shared that the story, which she conceived at the beginning of her acting career, now feels ready to come to life.

"I've known I was going to make this film for almost 10 years," Ortega said. "I'm just now starting to take real steps to get it made. I needed time to understand how the process works and how to structure everything."

Ortega, who has executive-produced projects like "Death of a Unicorn" and the upcoming season of "Wednesday", says her ultimate goal is to direct. "That's probably the main thing I want to do. That's how I think. That's even how I view acting sometimes."

She has also starred in and produced the upcoming thriller "Hurry Up Tomorrow" alongside The Weeknd and Barry Keoghan. While she hopes to eventually focus solely on directing, she acknowledged the value of her acting profile in gaining traction. "I don't want to be in the things I create long-term," she said. "But right now, it's a stepping stone."

Ortega's transition signals a major creative milestone in her career, as she sets her sights on telling stories from behind the lens.
