Zawad powers Bangladesh U19s to record win over Sri Lanka

Zawad Abrar struck his second century as Bangladesh Under-19 cruised to a commanding 146-run victory over their Sri Lankan counterparts in the fourth Youth ODI at the Colombo Cricket Club Ground today.
Riding on Zawad's brilliant hundred and Rizan Hossain's sparkling fifty, the young Tigers posted their highest-ever total of 336 for 8 on foreign soil before the bowlers dismantled the hosts for 190 in 38.4 overs, sealing an emphatic win.
Bangladesh took a 3-1 lead in the six-match series with their third consecutive victory.
Zawad scored 113 off 111 deliveries, hitting 14 boundaries and three sixes. It marked his second hundred in Youth ODIs—his first came in the second match of the series, where he remained unbeaten on 130 off just 106 balls, smashing 14 fours and six sixes.
With this feat, the right-hander joined an elite group of Bangladesh U19 openers with multiple centuries in Youth ODIs, alongside Amit Majumder, Pinak Ghosh, and Saif Hassan.
Batting at number four, Rizan contributed a vital 82 off 77 balls, decorated with five fours and three sixes. He shared a 135-run third-wicket stand with Zawad, laying a solid foundation for a late flourish.
The final six overs yielded a staggering 85 runs, propelling the total well past the 300-run mark.
Bangladesh's 336 is their second-highest total in Youth ODIs, behind only their 340 for 7—also against Sri Lanka in Chattogram back in 2019.
Sri Lanka never looked in control during the chase. Reduced to 36 for 4 by the seventh over, the hosts crumbled under pressure and failed to recover.
Right-arm pacer Al Fahad continued his fine form by taking three wickets for 41 runs, while skipper Azizul Hakim and Sanjid Majumder chipped in with two wickets apiece.
