Bangladeshi stars set for back-to-back shows in Saudi Arabia

Following his performance in Dammam earlier this month, popular Bangladeshi rock icon Nagar Baul James is set to perform in Jeddah as part of Saudi Arabia's "Passport to the World" event series, initiated under government patronage. The Dammam leg of the concert took place on May 2 at Al Khobar's Al Iskan Park, where James enthralled a massive crowd of expatriates. He is scheduled to take the stage in Jeddah on May 9.
Announcing the upcoming Jeddah performance, a post on James' official Facebook page read, "Dear brothers and sisters living in Saudi Arabia, see you in Jeddah on May 9."
Singers Sadia Mouri and Moumita Barua are also expected to perform alongside James on the same day.
Although she did not participate in the Dammam concert, singer Porshi is set to perform in Jeddah on May 7. Notably, she also performed during last year's Riyadh Season.
On the following day, May 8, popular singer Imran Mahmudul will take the stage in Jeddah. He earlier performed in the Dammam segment of "Passport to the World".
On May 2, James's concert in Dammam drew a sea of fans, with Bangladeshi expatriates travelling from various cities across the country to attend. By the afternoon, a large crowd had already gathered at the venue, growing steadily as the evening progressed.
The audience erupted in cheers as James's name appeared on the stage screen after sundown. All eyes were fixed on the stage, phones in hand, ready to capture the moment.
James appeared with his signature guitar, clad in a black T-shirt, blue jeans, and his trademark gamchha wrapped around his head. He performed a string of his popular hits including "Maa", "Ashbar Kale Ashlam Eka", "Dushtu Cheler Dol", "O Bijli", "Beder Meye Josna", "Sundoritoma Amar", "Pagla Hawa", and "Bhigi Bhigi". Videos from the performance have since gone viral across social media platforms.
Saudi Arabia's "Vision 2030" initiative aims to foster cultural exchange by highlighting languages and traditions from across the world. Since 2019, the country's Ministry of Media has been organising the Riyadh Season to celebrate global entertainment, sports, and culture. Continuing this tradition, the Kingdom launched the "Passport to the World" series this year to further expand its cultural outreach.
