Manu Mia politely declines Khairul Basar’s offer to buy him a horse

Manu Mia, a local gravedigger in Kishoreganj, who has personally dug over 3,000 graves, had recently come into the public eye through a viral news story that captured widespread attention. Notably, his horse, a trusted companion of many years, was reportedly killed under suspicious circumstances.
Among those moved by his story was actor Khairul Basar. After learning that Manu Mia was hospitalised in Dhaka due to age-associated disease, Bashar paid him a personal visit.
Basar told local media, "Over all these years, Manu Mia used his horse to commute across. When I heard that miscreants had killed his horse, I went to meet him. At one point during our conversation, I told him, 'I'd like to buy you a horse.' But he didn't want to take it. I couldn't convince him in any way; instead, he kept saying that once he recovers and returns home, he will be able to buy seven horses."
"Manu Mia was not saddened by the horse's death, which surprised me. He said he wasn't upset at all. He believes that if you own something, you must also be prepared to lose it. What we own can leave us. That's just how life works. He wasn't disheartened."
This mindset deeply impressed Basar. He realised that Monu is a man of principle, someone who prefers self-reliance over charity. Despite his struggles, he never sought handouts and had always lived with integrity. Basar, who shares roots in Kishoreganj with Manu Mia, found the gravedigger to be both resilient and quietly dignified—an individual who doesn't crumble under adversity.
Still, during their exchange, Manu Mia said something that left the actor slightly disheartened. Yet, Basar chose to respect his perspective, admiring Manu Mia's resolve even more.
