Air India cancels Ahmedabad-London flight due to operational issues

Air India's flight from Ahmedabad to London, scheduled to depart today, was cancelled due to "operational issues," an airport official said.
The cancellation comes five days after the airline's Boeing 787 Dreamliner crash, which claimed the lives of all but one of the 242 people on board.
The official did not elaborate on the "operational issues", Air India's official website also confirmed that the AI-159 flight from Ahmedabad to the Gatwick airport in London stands cancelled.
Today's plane was scheduled to depart at 3:00pm from the Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport in Ahmedabad.
Flight AI171, a Boeing Dreamliner, crashed on June 12, soon after taking off from Ahmedabad. In the wake of the incident, Air India's flight code for the Ahmedabad-Gatwick route has been changed to AI159.
Meanwhile, India's junior minister for Civil Aviation, Murlidhar Mohol, said today that Air India operates 34 Boeing 787 Dreamliner aircraft. The safety checks of 12 of them have been done, and no issues have been found so far.
He expressed the hope that an analysis of the plane's black box data will provide clues about the cause of the June 12 crash.
