IUBAT hosts health checkup and blood donation drive to commemorate July uprising

The College of Nursing at the International University of Business Agriculture and Technology (IUBAT), in partnership with the Bangladesh Thalassemia Samity and Hospital, conducted a Health Checkup Programme and Blood Donation Campaign on Saturday at the university's campus.

The initiative was organised to mark the anniversary of the July Mass Uprising, paying tribute to those who contributed to the country's democratic movement. The event focused on raising awareness of public health issues and promoting voluntary blood donation among students, faculty, and the wider community.

The campaign was formally inaugurated by Professor Dr Abdur Rab, Vice-Chancellor of IUBAT, who described the programme as a "meaningful step toward promoting public health awareness and social responsibility."

Also in attendance were Brigadier General Dr Md Zahid Hossain (Retd.), Controller of Examinations; Professor Dr Md Momtazur Rahman, Registrar; and Associate Professor Shubashish Das Bala, Coordinator of the College of Nursing. Faculty members and students of IUBAT also participated in the day-long event.

The programme included general health checkups and a voluntary blood donation drive, with contributions directed towards patients suffering from thalassemia and other critical conditions. Organisers stated that the campaign aimed to reinforce preventive healthcare practices and highlight the life-saving impact of regular blood donation.

Speaking at the event, organisers stressed the importance of academic institutions playing a more active role in public health and humanitarian initiatives, particularly when commemorating national events such as the July Mass Uprising. They extended their appreciation to all participating donors, medical professionals, and volunteers.

The initiative forms part of IUBAT's broader commitment to community engagement and social responsibility, reflecting its institutional mission to cultivate graduates who are both academically competent and socially conscious.
