Illegal medicine worth Tk 1cr seized at Dhaka airport
Customs intelligence seized illegal medicines worth Tk 1 crore from the freight unit of Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka early today.
The medicines weighing 160 kilogrammes were imported to Dhaka through a flight from Bangkok that landed at the airport yesterday, Umme Nahida Akhter, assistant director of customs intelligence, informed media via a text message today.
The medicines were imported violating import policy orders, she said.
The medicines were for the treatment for high cholesterol, fertility, heart disease, blood thinner and pain relief. They are believed to be of Indian origin and do not meet the local standards, she said.
An investigation is going on.
