UK urges end to violence
British Foreign Minister Hugo Swire today urged all political parties in Bangladesh, the government and others in society to take confidence-building measures necessary to stop the violence.
In a statement issued in UK, he also urged all to take steps to reduce tension and ensure an inclusive and participatory political process.
Hugo Swire mentioned that Britain has long been a close friend of Bangladesh.
“I am therefore particularly saddened about the last 60 days of violence and disruption, which has had such an impact on the livelihood, education and security of so many Bangladeshi people,” he added.
“There’s no place for this in a democratic Bangladesh.”
