3 arrested over Mymensingh boy torture
Law enforcers today arrested three accused in connection with torturing a 12-year old boy at Mymensingh’s Patgodam area.
The arrestees were identified as Rafiqul Islam, 25, Azizul Islam, 35, and Abdul Aziz, 45, said investigation officer of the case Anisur Rahman.
Law enforcers picked them up from different areas of the town in separate drives, Anisur Rahman, also a sub-inspector of the town’s Kotwali Police Station, added.
But the prime suspect in the case Safir Uddin Saru, a local AL leader, is still at large, reports our Mymensingh correspondent.

The accused were identified from a video footage of the incident that went viral creating a public outrage on the social media platform, the IO also said, adding that the arrestees were produced before a Mymensingh court this afternoon, that sent them to jail.
Earlier on Thursday night,the victim’s mother Parvin Akhtar lodged a case with Kotwali Police Station accusing four-five unidentified persons.
Shafir Uddin Saru, vice-president of AL Mymensingh municipality’s ward no-18 unit and his men intercepted 12-year-old Saddam Hossain at Patgodam when the boy was returning home from his aunt's house in Netrakona around 2:00pm on Wednesday, said the boy's mother.
They accused the boy of stealing the mobile phone of a woman at Krishtapur area of the town and beat him up mercilessly with sticks, Parvin also said.
"I am not a snatcher. I repeatedly requested them not to beat me, but they did not listen to me," Saddam later told reporters.
Police are in hectic drives to arrest the other accused including the prime suspect, said Md Kamrul Islam, officer-in-charge (OC) of Kotwali Police Station.
