Further probe in Pahela Baishakh sex assault: Court
A Dhaka court today ordered further investigation in a case filed over sexual assault during Pahela Baishakh celebration near TSC of Dhaka University last year.
Judge Jayasri Samaddar of the Third Tribunal for Prevention of Women and Children Repression passed the order and told Police Bureau of Investigation to report by March 23.
The order came after Public Prosecutor Mahmuda Akhter submitted a no-confidence petition against the final report submitted on December 24 last year by Detective Branch of Police.

In the probe report, detectives said none of the offenders could be identified or arrested in the incident took place during Pahela Baishakh celebration in 2015.
At least 20 women were sexually assaulted for over an hour, allegedly under the nose of police, by a group of rowdy youths on the evening of April 14 in the midst of a festive crowd.
The incident sparked a wave of protest throughout the country with people from all quarters condemning the incident and demanding immediate arrest of the culprits.
Police on May 17 declared Tk 1 lakh reward for capture of each eight identified from camera footages of the sexual assault during Pahela Baishakh celebrations.
