Mithapukur arson accused found dead
Police today recovered the body of an accused in an arson case from Mithapukur upazila in Rangpur this morning.
Shah Nazmul Huda alias Lablu Shah, 26, was an accused in the case filed over setting fire to a bus in Jaigirhat area of Mithapukur that left at least six people killed, said Md Abdur Razzak, superintendent of police in Rangpur.
Lablu was also accused in nine other cases, Razzak added.
The deceased was the upazila president of Sramik Kalyan Federation, a front organization of Jamaat-e-Islami, and former president of Islami Chhatra Shibir of the same unit.
Police said locals found the body floating in a pond by the Rangpur-Dhaka highway near RI Fishing Farm and informed the law enforcers.
Later, police recovered the body and sent to Rangpur Medical College Hospital morgue for autopsy.
