The High Court today adjourned the hearing until April 1 on two petitions filed by BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia expressing no confidence in the judge of a trial court dealing with Zia Orphanage and Zia Charitable Trust corruption cases.

The HC will hear the petitions after the court's 15-day vacation, which will end on April 1.

The bench led by Justice Md Rezaul Haque adjourned the hearing while another Justice, Md Khasruzzaman, was not present at the court.

The bench, on March 5 fixed March 12 (today) for hearing the petitions.

Khaleda Zia filed the petition on January 28 expressing apprehension that she could not get justice from Abu Ahmed Jamadar of the special judge court-3 of Dhaka as he had earlier not allowed her prayer for adjourning the case proceedings.

In the petition, Khaleda appealed to the HC to direct the government to transfer the case to the court of another judge.

On February 25, the court of Abu Ahmed Jamadar issued two arrest warrants against Khaleda Zia, her son Tarique Rahman and another accused of the cases for not appearing before it.

On March 3, she included two prayers in the petitions seeking stay on the lower court order that issued arrest warrant on February 25 for her in the cases.
