Mobile accessories worth Tk 5.5cr seized at Dhaka airport

Customs officials today seized cell phones of 65 brands and huge amount of memory cards worth around Tk 5.5 crore at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka.

The items were couriered from Hong Kong by a flight of Thai Airways on Tuesday afternoon.

On information, a team of customs carried out a drive at the currier section of airport and made the recovery from five cartons around 2:30pm, said Kazi Md Ziauddin, joint commissioner of customs.

The accessories were seized as those were imported with a fake declaration saying the cartons contain computer parts worth less than Tk 10,000, he added.
