Cricket fans of Rajshahi University today burnt the effigies of three umpires protesting their alleged partial umpiring during Bangladesh-India quarter final match in the ICC Cricket World Cup2015.

Hundreds of RU students under the banner of "Rajshahi University Cricket Fans" brought out a procession on campus and burnt the effigies of Ian Gould, Aleem Dar and Steve Davis at 12:45pm, demanding their punishment.

Earlier around 12:20pm, they formed a human chain in front of the central library, our RU correspondent reports.

Several decisions of umpire Ian Gould-- calling a 'no-ball' on Rubel Hossain's full toss and turning down Mashrafe's LBW—were highly criticised. This also included when batsman Mahmudullah was given out in the 17th over in the second-half of the quarter finals in Melbourne.

Bangladesh's World Cup mission came to an end following a 109-run defeat against India on March 19.
