City polls: BNP’s decision ‘in 2 days’
BNP will decide in two days whether it would field any candidates in the upcoming Dhaka and Chittagong city corporation elections, a senior leader of the party said.
The party will participate in the April 28 polls if the Election Commission (EC) ensures a level-playing field, said Lt Gen (retd) Mahbubur Rahman, a standing committee member of BNP.
He was speaking to reporters on the Jatiya Press Club premises this afternoon.
The party, he said, has some conditions that include allowing its supported candidates to campaign for the elections freely and withdrawing cases filed against its leaders and activists.
“There is no crisis of candidates in the party,” he further said.
The elections to the Dhaka and Chittagong city corporations will be held on April 28.
