Pro-BNP professionals to meet CEC

A delegation of pro-BNP professionals will meet the chief election commissioner in a day or two to call for ensuring a level-playing field in the upcoming Dhaka and Chittagong city corporation polls.

They took the decision in a meeting at the Elephant Road residence of Prof Emajuddin Ahmed, former vice-chancellor of Dhaka University, this evening, several participants told reporters emerging from the meeting.

The outcome of the meeting with CEC Kazi Rakibuddin Ahmad would be conveyed to the BNP high-ups, they said.

Prof AHM Yusuf Haider, former pro-VC of DU, Prof Mahbub Ullah, a retired teacher of DU, Abdul Hai Sikdar, president of a faction of Dhaka Union of Journalists (DUJ), and Rafiqul Islam Bachchu, joint secretary of Doctors Association of Bangladesh (Dab), among others, were present at the meeting.
