Horse cart riding mayor aspirant fined

A mayor aspirant has been fined for riding a horse cart wrapped in campaign banners and posters in violation of the electoral code of conducts.

The candidate was caught by a mobile court while going to submit his nomination paper for contesting the Dhaka North City Corporation elections.

The court fined Tk 20,000 to Md Nayeem Hasan, who went to the returning officer’s office riding the vehicle at Agargaon.

Dhaka Metropolitan Executive Magistrate Sarwar Alam, who led the court, told The Daily Star that Hasan has violated the electoral code of conduct by both riding horse cart and displaying electoral banners while submitting nomination paper.
