Cop killed in Ctg road crash

A policeman was killed as a truck knocked him down on the Dhaka-Chittagong Highway in Sitakunda upazila of Chittagong early today.

Jane Alam, 45, was an assistant sub-inspector (ASI) of Sitakunda police station, and a resident of Hathazari upazila of the district, reports our Chittagong correspondent.

After hitting Alam in Taltala Bhatiary area around 4:45am, the Dhaka-bound truck fell into a ditch, said Iftekhar Hasan, officer-in-charge (OC) of Sitakunda police station,

Alam was rushed to Chittagong Medical College Hospital where the doctors declared him “brought dead” around 5:20am, the OC added.

The trucker however managed to flee the scene.
