Show cause notice to Khokon, Saifuddin

Two mayor aspirants of Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) polls have been served with separate show cause notices for violating electoral code of conducts.

Mihir Sarwar Morshed, returning officer (RO) of the DSCC, issued the notices to Awami League-backed Sayeed Khokon and Jatiya Party-blessed Haji Saifuddin Ahmed Milon today.

Sayeed Khokon has been served with the notice for seeking blessings after Jummah prayers yesterday, violating the electoral laws.

Meanwhile, the notice was served to Milon as his electoral posters were yet to be removed.

Both the mayor aspirants were asked to submit their explanation by tomorrow.

As per the electoral laws, candidates cannot start their campaign until 21 days from the election day. Polls to the two Dhaka city corporations and Chittagong City Corporation are scheduled to be held on April 28.
