AL candidates for each Dhaka ward
Ruling Awami League has finalised lone councilor hopefuls for most units for the upcoming city corporation elections to the two halves of Dhaka city, to be held on April 28.
The party also has ensured single candidate for reserved woman councilor.
Earlier, the party decided to back single councilor aspirants to ensure victory and the party top leaders held several meetings with AL's City unit leaders and other concern leaders in this regard.
"Those who didn't get party support, they will have to withdraw their candidature. We gave the message to every candidate. If anyone violates party decision, organisational action will be taken against him/her", MA Aziz, acting president of Dhaka city AL told the Daily Star this evening.
Today is the last date of withdrawal nomination.
The party submitted its list for Dhaka north, signed by AL’s international affair secretary Faruk Khan, also election coordinator of AL sponsored mayoral candidate Annisul Huq, and that for Dhaka south, signed by Md Abdur Razzak, election coordinator for Sayeed Khokan.
