HC defers order on tracing Salahuddin
High Court today deferred verdict on a petition seeking its order on the government to locate and produce “missing” BNP leader Salahuddin Ahmed to next Monday.
Today was the date set by Justice Quamrul Islam Siddique and Justice Gobinda Chandra Tagore to pass order on the petition moved by Salahuddin’s wife Hasina Ahmed.
The petition also seeks involvement of a judicial body to probe his disappearance.
The verdict date was pushed back after following petitioner lawyer Khandakar Mahbub Hossain’s prayer seeking time to produce some additional documents.
Court’s proceedings ended today with the judges deferring the verdict to April 20.
BNP leader Salahuddin is traceless for more than a month now. His wife has sought the prime minister’s intervention several times to locate him.
According to Hasina, plainclothes picked up Salahuddin from a house in Uttara of the capital on March 10 and there has been no news of him since then.
On March 12, Hasina moved the HC with this petition seeking its order on the government to locate and produce Salahuddin and a judicial probe into his disappearance.
