Mashrafe’s Milestone
Bangladesh captain Mashrafe Mortaza is playing in his 150th one-day international during the second game of the three-match ODI series against Pakistan at Mirpur Stadium today.
The Narail Express made his ODI debut against Zimbabwe on November 23, 2001. His raw pace and aggressive mindset added a new dimension to Bangladesh’s bowling, making it more potent that before.
However his career was plagued with injuries, and after three operations on his knees, Mashrafe has lost some of his pace but none of his guile.
He continues to spearhead Tigers’ bowling attack, and has more control and clever variations with the experience he gathered over his long career.
His best bowling figures came against Kenya at Nairobi (Gym) on August 15, 2006 when he destroyed their batting line up with 6 wickets for only 26 runs in 10 overs.
Mashrafe’s lone ODI fifty came in the same year when he hammered 51 runs against Scotland at Dhaka.
