Abbas has not been seen in his election campaign either with 60 cases against him which includes an arrest warrant in a graft case.

His manifesto included plans for education, health and entertainment.

Afroza Abbas has been running her husband’s election campaign since April 9, two days after the drive for votes officially began in Dhaka for the city polls on April 28.

Dhaka police have already issued stern warning against “fugitives” contesting the city polls that they must secure bail in the cases they have been accused in.

On April 15, a High Court bench gave split order in bail petitions of two violence cases with one judge granting him bail in both and the other rejecting those.

He is the major contender of ruling Awami League blessed Sayeed Khokon for the mayor post of Dhaka South City Corporation.
