Afghanistan blast near market kills at least 10
A suicide bomber has killed at least 10 people in an attack near a market in the eastern Afghan province of Kunar, officials say.
The provincial governor's office said the bomber rode up on a motorcycle to the entrance of a government office in the provincial capital Asadabad before detonating his device.
Some of the victims were reported to be children playing in a nearby park.
No group has yet said it carried out the attack.
Reuters reported that a tribal elder and militia commander named Haji Khan Jan was among the dead.
He had been closely involved in a number of operations against the Taliban last year.
In recent months, there has been an upsurge in fighting between the Taliban and government forces.
