Hero of the day
Tamim Iqbal enjoyed his best T20I innings in three years, scored more than half of his team’s 153 runs with his second highest score in T20I cricket.
He was unbeaten in the end with 83 runs from 58 balls, and entertained his fans with six fours and three towering sixes to his name.
The southpaw from Chittagong played sensibly from the onset, took his time to get his eye in and pressed on the gas later in his innings. He got a reprieve when he was on 34 in the 13th over as the keeper missed a stumping.
However, Tamim made the most of the chance and kept moving the scoreboard at a great pace. Tamim’s wristy shots and his immaculate placement were simply brilliant today, and the fact that he didn’t throw away his wicket recklessly will stand him in good stead in the future matches of the ICC T20 World Cup 2016 in India.
