Life term for 4 JMB militants over 2005 Aug 17 blasts

A Dhaka court today sentenced four militants of Jama’atul Mujahideen Bangladesh (JMB) to life imprisonment August 17 serial blast case filed in Mymensingh 11 years ago.
The convicts are Kawsar Alam Sumon, Yunus Mia alias Kawsar, Mehedi Habib, Md Rafique and Ashraful Islam alias Sharif. Rafique and Sharif are currently on the run.
For all latest news, follow The Daily Star's Google News channel. The court also fined each of them Tk 20,000, by default, they will be in prison for three months more. The sentences of the fugitive will be effective from the day of their arrest or surrender.
Judge Momotaj Begum of the Speedy Trial Tribunal-2 of Dhaka today passed the order acquitting eight others, as the charges brought against them did not carry enough proof.
