Tamim bats his way to the top
Bangladesh's dashing opening batsman Tamim Iqbal took his name to the top of the list of run-getters in T20Is with his brilliant cameo during the washed-out qualifying match against Ireland on Friday and became the leading batsman for his country in all formats of international cricket.
Tamim Iqbal overtook his teammate Shakib Al Hasan with the classy knock of 47 runs from 26 balls on March 11, 2016 at Dharamsala, and now has the most runs in T20Is for Bangladesh. Tamim tops the list with 989 runs from 48 matches at an average of 22.47 with a strike-rate of 111.87. Shakib is second with 979 runs from 49 matches.
Tamim's highest score in T20Is, 88 not out from 61 balls came against West Indies at Dhaka on December 10, 2017. In ODIs, Tamim is at the zenith with 4713 runs from 153 matches. His highest score in one-day matches came on August 16, 2009 at Bulawayo when Tamim thrashed the Zimbabwean bowlers all around the park for 154 runs in only 138 deliveries. In Tests, Tamim is at numero uno with 3118 runs from 42 matches. His personal best of 206 came at home against Pakistan during April 2015.
The Southpaw from Chittagong is currently going through a rich vein of form and his less-hurried, matured approach combined with selective aggression in T20 cricket has paid rich dividends during the Pakistan Super League and now through the qualifying round of ICC WT20 2016 in India.

On March 9, Tamim registered his second highest T20I score with the unbeaten 83 from 58 balls against Netherlands at Dharamsala. Although he is taking risks with the field up during the power-play overs, they are calculated risks, and the ball usually goes where there are no fielders or pierces the field at the speed of knots!
Since Tamim is decisive in his footwork, both against pacers and spinners, he is hitting more boundaries through the arc in front of the wicket, from cover to mid-wicket. With good balance and a fantastic CA Plus 8000 in his hand, Tamim has been clearing the fence with minimum of effort…all his fans as well as Tigers supporters would love see more effortless batting from Tamim during the Super Ten round of ICC WT20 2016.
