Recently, citing security concerns, the United Kingdom barred direct air cargo flights from Dhaka international airport. Businessmen reacted sharply to it fearing huge losses to exports.

Aviation Minister Menon declared he will attend office at the airport premises to ensure standard security. The prompt meeting was also a step to rectify in this regard.

There has been a change at the head of civil aviation authority and a new chairman was appointed today, days after the UK's ban came.

Minister Menon today told reporters that international standard scanners and close circuit cameras were installed at the airport as a part of security measure.

Earlier in the day, he said initiatives have taken to beef up security at the airport.
