Bangladesh end day one on 236/4 on the back of some responsible batting from the top-order and a number of missed chances by the Pakistan fielders at Khulna today.
Mominul Haque was unfortunate to be dismissed on the second-last ball of the day when he was plumb leg-before-wicket to Zulfiqar Babar for 80 runs.
He faced 162 deliveries and struck eight fours in his innings. He rode his luck after being dropped on 17 and went on to make his highest score against Pakistan in test matches.
He was patient to begin with, and began milking the bowling as he progressed in his innings. His partnership of 95 runs with Mahmudullah kept the Pakistani bowlers at bay and propelled Bangladesh to a strong position at the end of day one.
Wahab Riaz, Yasir Shah, Mohammad Hafeez and Zulfiqar Babar picked up one wicket each during the first day at Khulna. Pakistan fielders spilled several chances created by the bowlers working hard on the batting-friendly wicket at the venue.

After a 95-run partnership with Mominul Haque, Mahmudullah was dismissed by Wahab Riaz for 49 runs when wicketkeeper Sarfraz Ahmed took a one-handed blinder.
Mahmudullah faced 123 balls and struck six fours in his innings. He looked good for a big score but failed to negotiate the left-armer's angle and slight movement off the pitch.
Imrul Kayes occupied the wicket with his gritty knock of 51 runs from 130 balls with six boundaries to his name. He fell shortly after reaching his first fifty against Pakistan in test matches when he was caught and bowled by Mohammad Hafeez against the run of play.
After a steady innings, Tamim Iqbal fell on the brink of lunch when he inside edged Yasir Shah's delivery into the safe hands of Azhar Ali at short leg.
Tamim scored 25 runs from 74 balls with three boundaries in his innings. He partnered Imrul Kayes for 52 runs and gave Bangladesh the upper hand in the first session of the test match.
Bangladesh openers were cautious in their approach when they began batting in the first test of the two-match series against Pakistan at Sheikh Abu Naser Stadium at Khulna.
