tribeca

The 2015 Tribeca Film Festival announced Monday that more than 138,000 moviegoers attended the 492 screenings and panels during this year's edition, which concluded Sunday. Factoring in the number of people who checked out Tribeca's virtual-reality experiences and free community events like the Family Festival Street Fair and Tribeca Drive-In Series, overall attendance topped 467,000. Festival organisers estimated that 300,000 people enjoyed the Family Festival Street Fair and ESPN Sports Day on Saturday.

These numbers are slightly higher than the attendance figures for the 2014 edition of the festival, which was attended by more than 400,000 people, more than 120,000 of which went to screenings and panels.

The 12-day festival screened 101 features, 60 short films and five immersive storytelling projects from 38 countries. The festival's new creative hub, Spring Studios, which hosted several events, welcomed nearly 20,000 people throughout this year's edition.

Nearly a thousand industry delegates attended from 40 countries. The festival kicked off with the world premiere of the Saturday Night Live documentary “Live From New York!” and featured a closing-night screening and reunion of the cast of “Goodfellas”, which celebrates its 25th anniversary this year.
