An assortment of CONTEMPORARY ART
For the third consecutive segment, Bishwo Shahitto Kendra (BSK) has organised a group art exhibition featuring artworks by 40 noted and promising Bangladeshi artists at its art gallery. Director general of Bangla Academy Shamsuzzaman Khan inaugurated the exhibition as chief guest while Professor Bulbon Osman and artist Abdus Shakoor Shah spoke at the event as special guests on May 2. Professor Abdullah Abu Sayeed presided over the event.
Artworks by four late artists, Qayyum Chowdhury, Abdus Sobur, Hashi Chakraborty and Mahboob Akand, are on display at the show. The exhibition is dedicated to eminent artist and graphic designer Qayyum Chowdhury.
The exhibition showcases one or two artworks each by the participating artists, including Abul Monsur, Nazlee Laila Mansur, Syed Iqbal, AKM Alamgir Huque, Tajuddin Ahmed, Enamul Huq Enam, Bimanesh Chandra Biswas, Nazib Mohammad, Ruhul Amin Kajol, Dr. Siddhartha Talukder, Najma Akhter, Samina Nafies, Gulshan Hossain, Kazi Salahuddin Ahmed, Laila Sharmeen, Hritendra Kumar Sharma, Rashedul Huda, Goutam Chakraborty, Rafi Haque, Dr. Rashid Amin and others.
The aim of the group exhibition is to showcase artists belonging to different age groups, working on diverse themes and different mediums. The exhibition has also become a platform, encouraging the exchange of ideas between senior and promising painters of Bangladesh.
The exhibition captures the trends and dimension of Bangladeshi art covering several decades. Through the exhibits of a number of contemporary painters, one can easily comprehend the current trends of Bangladeshi art. The painters have used varied styles and approaches. It is true that our painters have a great fascination with pure
abstraction, neo-expressionism and pure realism.
The exhibition, running from 3 to 8:30pm, ends on May 16.
