TAHSAN encourages young surfers of Cox's Bazar
Tahsan is loved by millions for his singing and acting skills. But how many of us know that he loves to surf? As it turns out, this ever-popular star is an avid fan of surfing. And he flew to Cox's Bazar to join the BRAC Chicken 1st National Surfing Tournament and encourage the surfers participating in the tournament, while enjoying his share of the waves. The two day event kicked off on April 27, 2015.
Surfers participated in three categories in the tournament: Pro-surfers, Beginners and Girls. A total of 125 surfers participated in the tournament. Kamal, Selim and Rifa won the first prize in the Pro-surfers, Beginners and Girls categories, respectively. Speaking at the occasion, Tahsan said, "Surfing as a sport is instilling a sense of self-belief and empowerment in some sections of the most disadvantaged communities of Cox's Bazar, communities to which virtually all of the participating surfers belong.
Before they took on surfing as a passion, most of these surfers spent their days plying the beach to make their ends meet. Now with a number of surfing clubs operating and platforms such as the BRAC Chicken 1st National Surfing Tournament to showcase their skills, these young men and women can dream of a better future."
