Custom officials seized five gold bars, weighing 2.3 kilogrammes, from a passenger at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka early today.

The passenger, Abdul Jalil, 40 hailing from Munshiganj, was arrested for carrying the gold bars worth Tk 1.20 crore illegally in his luggage hidden inside motor parts, said Assistant Commissioner of the Customs Md Reyadul Islam.

The arrestee reached the Dhaka airport from Malaysia by a United Airways flight at 6:00am, he said
