7-murder: Nazrul’s wife files no confidence petition
A naraji (no confidence) petition was filed today against the charge sheet submitted by the detectives dropping the names of five accused in sensational Narayanganj seven-murder case.
Selina Islam, wife of Narayanganj City Corporation councilor Nazrul Islam who is one of the victims, filed the petition with the court of Senior Judicial Magistrate H M Shafikul Islam in Narayanganj.
Later, the court fixed June 8 to hear the petition.
Advocate Sakhawat Hossain, a counsel for Selina, said his client has filed the petition as the detectives submitted the charge sheet dropping the name of five people mentioned in the complaint.
Besides, many other names were also dropped although their involvement was found with the killings during the investigations, he added.
Earlier on April 8, detectives submitted the charge sheet of the seven-murder case against 35 naming local Awami League leader Nur Hossain as the prime accused.
The 35 include 25 members of Rapid Action Battalion (Rab) including ex-top officials Tareque Sayeed Mohammad, Arif Hossain and SM Masud Rana.
In April last year, seven people including Narayanganj city panel mayor Nazrul Islam and senior lawyer Chandan Sarker were abducted.
Their bodies were later found floating on the Shitalakkhya river. Gutted and the abdomen filled with stones, they were dumped in the river.
Nazrul's father-in-law Shahidul Islam alleged that Rab personnel abducted and killed Nazrul in exchange for Tk 6 crore from a local ward councillor Nur Hossain.
The three former Rab officials, which included the in-law of a minister, confessed their involvement to the killing.
